A competition, news on the Fuller sisters, and the festival programme
Our festival programmes have been printed and are being distributed far and wide. You’ll find them in stations, shops and cafes across Dorset and beyond.
Free tickets competition
We’re delighted to have partnered with the BV Magazine to run a competition with the chance to win three sets of tickets (three different prizewinners selected at random after the closing date). To enter, head to the competition on the BV website and answer a couple of questions. Closing date 21st May.

Update on the Fuller Sisters of Sturminster Newton
From Sturminster Newton to The White House is a play with song written by Sue Ashby that features in the festival programme. Tickets for the performance are on sale here. Rosalind Fuller is played by Rachel Alexander. The play recounts the sisters’ three tours of America between 1911 and 1917. The drama is interspersed with the folk songs she and her sisters sang on farms, in the high-class salons of wealthy women and even in the White House.
When we first advertised the performance, we had a wonderful surprise when an email arrived from Boston, Massachusetts, asking us about the work. It turns out that a researcher in America has been studying the music of the Fuller sisters for years. Much of that research is in the USA, and we’re looking forward to sharing information and finding out more about these one-time residents of Sturminster Newton.
Our Festival Programme
There’s still time to buy tickets for the festival. All the tickets are on our website. Choose from a talk on the Lost Orchards of Dorset or hearing the experiences of a test pilot. If fiction is your thing, check out the events with Matthew Harffy, Elisabeth Conway, and Libby Page. Or, see how Brian Jackman observed nature in West Dorset and how nature inspires Jane V Adams.
Writing Workshops
We have three writing workshops this year on nature writing, self-publishing and family saga. Places are limited, so booking is advised.
