Sturminster Newton Literary Festival - January 2024
Happy New Year from Sturminster Newton Literary Festival
2024 Festival Programme
Our 2024 festival programme is taking shape with a wonderful mix of fiction and non-fiction, showcasing the best of Dorset and Wessex writers. The programme runs from 8th -16th June this year, and you’ll find a mix of talks, walks, and interactive events. There’s a special event to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day. We’ll even be turning Sturminster Newton into a crime scene for another themed day! Look out for more details in the next few weeks.
Sturminster Newton Literary Festival 80th Anniversary D-Day Project
JUNE 2024
The D-Day project for this year's SturLitFest (8-16 June 2024) is seeking contributions from local people whose family members took part in the build-up to and military invasion of Normandy 80 years ago.
We will be creating an exhibition of family testimonies and images that will be on show in the gallery at The Exchange, Sturminster Newton from June 6th. On June 9th, the exhibition will be formally launched alongside author events commemorating the invasion.
If you'd like to contribute to the exhibition, please send us a 500-word account of your forbear's experience in June 1944. If possible, please submit a typed version via email to sturlitfest1@gmail.com or deliver a hand-written account to the Town Council Offices in Sturminster Newton. Mark it FAO CClr Pauline Batstone - D-D 80th Anniversary Project.

Other Book Events
Our friends at Dorset based Little Toller are crowdfunding an anthology of their journal, The Clearing, featuring many of their established and emerging writers. Check out their project and some of the interesting crowdfunding offers here. There’s even a writing workshop if you are quick!
